Although their countries may for all practical purposes have been ruled by the imperial government, such persons are considered to have been born outside the sovereignty and allegiance of the British Crown, and were (and, where these persons are still alive, still are) known as British protected persons.

Okay I was born in the UK, moved to canada when i was little, and moved back here, my Dad was Canadian but moved here and had a british subject passport, because he was part of the commonwealth Community and lived here for a long time he was a british subject but not being born here he did not have the right to hold a british passport, he had to apply for visa's to enter places that british ...
