Budget Airlines

With Bulgarias acceptance into EU hopefully in 2007 and the skies aggreement coming into force anybody heard anything about the budget airlines flying to plovdiv. Heard a wee rumour that Ryan air might be.

re: Budget Airlines

surely if/when bulgaria do get in to the EU thats the end of bargain cheap trips boarding in bulgaria, as the euro will take over.

good for the bulgarians, but not so for the likes of me, who cant afford the european, north american resorts!!

so on a purely selfish note, not looking forward to it at all!

re: Budget Airlines

Not necessarily Lew. These are privately run airlines that only do it if there is profit to be made.

Can't see it hapening overnight,if at all from the likes of Ryanair or Easy Jet.

re: Budget Airlines

yeah fair comment, i meant more that the prices at the resort, hotel costs, food, drink etc, are all gona balloon, that’s my fear!

if this happens bringing the bulgarian resorts in line with the rest of Europe, it may have a detrimental impact on numbers, with people choosin the more developed places as the cost will be a lot closer!

nightmare scenario!

re: Budget Airlines

What i know is that Ryanair officials have visited Plovdiv airport to check it. Ryan and Easy will not start operations to BG until BG enters European Open Sky agreement. BG will enter open sky in September this year. Wizzair are starting operations London Luton- Sofia in May, but in order to go around the open sky agreement, they registered an airline under BG law.
