re: Bulgarian Cuisine

James the food is perfectly fine. I would urge you however to eat out even if you are halfboard as it is much better in the restaurants than the hotels.

alot of grilled meats salads, stews. I enjoy the food out there but many of my travel companions feel that the food is very oily.

It's excellent - a real mix of Western, Central and Eastern European with Greek & Turkish influences. To get the real deal, get to a "mehana" (they have real ones in Bansko and accurately created ones in Pamps). But even on the slopes the rerstaurants serve it up. I recommend "kavarma" (a spicy casserole) and try a "katchamak" (a polenta type dish, can be dry so get something to add to it).
Happy holiday
