Bulgarian Levs

Just went to order some levs for next weekend, only to be rung by the bank later on that they are no longer available (for the time being anyway). Confused

I know we can change our sterling in the hotel but thought it would be nice to take a little with us. Has anyone else had the same problem recently because apparently you could get them before christmas???

re: Bulgarian Levs

we had the same problem, you might be able to get some from the airport exchange office. if not then as soon as you arrive at the airport in bulgaria there is an exchange office in the arrivals department. hav good ski-ing!

re: Bulgarian Levs

Sarah, you're best off just changing a very small amount at Bulgarian Airport, as exchange rate is normally high.

I shouldn't worry though, you'll be getting a lot for your money anyway!

Have a great Holiday

re: Bulgarian Levs

There wasn't any exchange place in Plovdiv last year, but you can exchange money as soon as you arrive at the hotel. I've ordered a few pounds worth from Lunn Poly and will wait to see if they can get them in for me on Friday

Hey Sarah,
stop these thoughts, there are no problem you can have without any bg money.
The changing offices in the big hotels are working to 22.00 at night and may be you can pay with sterling. There is no need to have bg money from the airport to the hotel. Normally is forbidden to bring lev outside of bulgaria, but these rule became much softer in the last 4-5 years and the rates in GB are really worse, the same is to say for the airport. re: Bulgarian Levs

Hello Sarah,

Try Thomas Cook, they didn't have an endless supply last year but they were the only one we found that supplied bulgarian lev.
I don't think the rates from the hotels are that good nor those at the airport. Try the exchange booth between the white magic bar and the rila hotel, same side of the road as the magic bar and close to katies restuarant where you can possibly get the best food in the resort.
Have a good holiday
good luck with the snow....
