Bulgarian Trains

Anyone ever taken a train in Bulgaria? Will be staying in Pamporovo next month and hope to go on a trip and take in some of the surrounding countryside - hopefully by train. Any advice???

2 years ago we were in Sofia thinking going up northern Bulgaria about 100 km, but after 2 hours where the train had stopped several times we vent off, had a lunch, and a little wine and were going back to Sofia without had being in out
distination.
One funny thing - ones when the train stopped - people jump of the train, ran
across a field to a bar and came back with cold beer in the hands
but it maybe being better now with the bulgarian railway - but I garantee your ...
