Can anyone give me a brief summary on the best/biggest ski-resorts in Bulgaria for intermed/advanced level and if any of them are being developed with more runs in the future. Im surprised to see the popularity of ski-ing in Bulgaria where the max no of runs in any one resort seems to be barely into double figures ! Not much variety for 1 week surely ?! Is the 'budget' cost the main attraction as its hardly the 3 valleys !Appreciate any opinions..cheers..

For me its not just the price. Bulgaria dosent attract the snobs and posers that the 3 valleys does. And Bulgaria is not to far off the standards of many European resorts.re: Bulgarian ski-ing

Yea and also you go to France, pay silly money for the holiday and end up in a crappy hotel with an overpriced bar and nothing else - and if you are like me you always end up in the attic room giving you a crooked neck!
Bulgaria however offers so much more after a days skiing, huge 4 star (and yes nowadays they are 4 star!), pools, bars, nightclubs, bowling, shopping arcades.
Yea maybe it isnt up to "Les Trois Vallees" standard by choice of runs, but cheap, cheerful and good value is ...

I can't understand why anyone needs so many runs anyway. You go up, you hopefully come down again. Why does it matter if you are on a different part of the mountain each time?re: Bulgarian ski-ing
i used to live and work in france three valleys, cham, val, morzine now living in bansko, yeah there is only 57km of piste but the off piste is great the bars and pubs are cheap Balkan hols sounds a bit of a mare but neilson come here for the budget concious, independent travel is a bit dear as there is dual pricing in most of the big hotels but there are some more normal ones!powder was great this year and no waiting for the lifts

I booked for next year cos I have 2 small kids who love skiing (or in the youngests case trying too!we went to Courcheval this year, and I object to paying £8 a pint! ok the skiing was great, but I tend to hang around where the kids tend to be, so Borovets looks as though its good enough for us, cant wait Jan 2005!
