I have recently contacted an estate agents in Bulgaria requesting a viewing of a house which is for sale while I am over there on holiday. The estate agents informed me that they would charge me £40 to view the house and would charge me 14p per mile to take me to the house. I find this difficult to swallow as here in the UK estate agents do not charge viewers to look at houses. I have recently contacted an estate agents in Bulgaria requesting a viewing of a house which is for sale while I am over there on holiday. The estate agents informed me that they would charge me £40 to view the house and would charge me 14p per mile to take me to the house. I find this difficult to swallow as here in the UK estate agents do not charge viewers to look at houses. In fact, estate agents here in the UK are just pleased people are showing interest in the properties they are trying to sell. Is this normal practice in Bulgaria, i.e. to charge a fee to view a property for sale?

I don't know if it's custom & practise across Bulgaria. But I don't blame them. They don't earn much compared to people who can afford to buy property abroad. I have been involved in selling property in France and if I had charged the same I would be rich by now with the number of looker and tourists who wasted my time and that of my partners.
Not saying that you are one John, but like I said, I don't blame them for covering their costs.

Danny has realised the truth and the reason why they charge money.However these 40 GBP are refundable if you buy property in the next 12 months
