Off to Bansko on the 23rd. Bit worried that there will be no snow by then
Could anyone advise the best mix of currency to take? Some people say things are cheaper in leva, others say euros and i've even heard one or two people say locals are keen on receiving sterling!
Whatever you do , do not change currency at the desk by the luggage retrieval in arrivals, or at the first ones you see as you exit security. Absolute rip-off.
First Investment bank in town or Perun have good exchange rates. I always use my UK bank card and draw out levs from the ATM (check for spy cameras though -no worse than UK). If you do this let your bank know as Bulgaria is on their bad list. You get a good exchange rate this way.
i took levas, got a really good exchange rate with Travelex.co.uk.
me and my partner only spend £200 between the 2 off us. and 30 leva went on buying him a new set of glasses, and paying for his ski poles he broke!!xx
Spoke to someone who had their card cloned in Bank ATM in Bansko earlier in year. £1200 taken out on account. It can happen anywhere but I think your guard is down on holiday - watch out for anything unusual on machine - think that's what you meant by spy cameras Bansko Boy but you got the usual sarcastic reply from Donkeywalloper.
