CORRECTION -RECCO tracing system is used in BG.
sorry I can confirm that the system for finding people lost deep in the snow after a fall of avalanche which is widely used in the Alps is used and in Bulgaria.
Couple of days ago when the hut assistant of Mussala has gone missing ,the mountain rescue in Borovets was using the RECCO transmiters and becouse of that he was found 4 hours later sadly already cold.
Action Plan-Go and buy a pair or more of then (sold everywhere in the ski ...

Action Plan-Go and buy a pair or more of then (sold everywhere in the ski shops and costing around 20pound for a pair.Pud them one on each side somewhere not so deep in the jacket.Ideally stick them on the side of each the ski boots above the angle towards the end.Fit everybody in you company with the same .they can be used again and again and again -so money well spent .
Some jackets have RECCO on the sleeves but check when you wash them if they are remouvable.
MAKE IT EASY FOR YOURSELF AND THE MOUNTAIN RESCUE-and give them a chance to find you if needed.YOU WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO SEEING THEM IF THAT'S THE CASE.

There is No Danger of Avalanches on Ski Tracks in Bansko“The ski tracks in Bansko mountain resort are processed and all lifts are in operation. There is no danger of avalanches”, the Mountain Rescue Service announced for “FOCUS Radio – Pirin. They asked the guests of the resort not to go gar away from the marked zones because there was real danger for avalanches out from the tracks.
The weather is cloudy and the temperatures are in the interval between –7 to –11 degrees C.

Depends if you think money well spent means your body getting found earlier. You really need a transceiver, not a transponder (which is what RECCO is). You also need some of your mates to have them along with probes and shovels. Working for the tourist industry ?Maybe property lender?
Dont worry people will still go and visit the place and you will have a profitable business there.

I read in BG papers that this season will be the crutial one if Bansko is to survive.Maybe all of the resort will come on the market fos sale.Maybe the initial wave of very adventures tourists will calm-signs already showing to that.Who knows.But we need people like you to push and give everyone on this forum very very nice picture of Bulgaria.

it is not listed on the RECCO website that Bulgaria has them but that was the case of the accident last week in Borovets(transponders found the reflectors in the clothing of the mountain hut assistant )Without them time was going to be even longer.

ey sam, I know that somethimes I'm losing it but this is really a laugh!!! Going for my first time to Bansko in march..All the info I know is from this site, other ones and the electronic papers..
We have no information like this in Belgium.

Sam the problem with RECCO is that they're passive. Someone with the searching equipment needs to reach you, locate you and dig you out. My understanding is that the searching equipment isn't that quick to transport. Hence it's very unlikely they'll find you within the 15mins critical period before you'll suffocate. Like you say the time would have been longer to find the person without them but if it takes four hours with them they're not much good for anything other than finding your body ...
