Does anybody know how to sort out Cake (choccy would be great), Champagne and a rose for a romantic Birthday treat for my other half (ah). Staying in Malina village, Borovets from 28th Feb. We stayed in Yogoda last year so I know roughly where things are. Might go to the chinese (down the hill from the Samakov) as last year it was very good, unless there is any other good suggestions.
Thanks.
What a lovely thought and I am sure your 'other half' will enjoy your treat. I would take Champagne from the UK with you, ASDA have some excellent value for money Champagne
Also make sure the rose is a WHITE one, not a red variety.
I am in contact with one of the ski instructors in Borovets. I can call him and ask or alternatively you could ask your rep or instructor once you get there.
thanks - I have no intension of carrying anything that heavy (or expensive) from UK. How do I make sure I get dry champers? And what do the locals call it?
As far as I know you buy it in the supermarket or restaurants. Bottle looks the same as here. No idea what it's called but what I had at the ski presentation evening was more than adequate.
If I get a chance later I'll give Krassi a call and ask if he knows where I can get a cake.

We enjoyed eating in the Avalanche. Food was excellent, open fire, not too busy and the people extremely friendly. Went for a meal with Krassi and his wife to celebrate their anniversary to the Black Cat - lucky her! Also goo and had a band playing music. Alpin is also good with extensive menu but a bit expensive.
The ski show is on Wednesday nights so suss out which you like best and maybe book a table the day before.
