Cash Machines

Have read a few reports on cash machines not taking British debit cards forcing people to change money on their credit cards for 10% commission. Anyone had this problem?

Our NW flex acc card worked in all machines in Pamps that we tried.

I always use machine outside Hotel Rila bank or the one in the Flora hotel. Never had a problem in either.

Its quite common in Europe that many ATM's only accept Credit Cards from non national banks.

Dont sopose anyone knows if a lloyds tsb card would work in sofia & bansko..?

I got money on a tsb card at Sofia airport if thats any use!

The only ATMs that I've ever found not to accept my Nationwide Flex Card are those operated by Postbank.

Dont know about the ski resorts but my flex card was accepted at all atm's i tried in Burgas/Sunny beach/Plovdiv.Some of them even told you how much you had left in your account.

Used lloyds tsb debit card in pamps but then the bank stopped it and we had a long phone call trying to get it re-instated.Did tell the bank we were off to Bulgaria but seems they forgot to tell their system.Worth advising your own bank if you are going to be using your card abroad.Any unusual activity and the banks stop the card straight away
