Changing Travellers cheques in boro

Hi Everyone,

Just wondered if there are any problems changing travellers cheques in the borovets resort or is every where happy to change them. I know its probably fine but might as well check before I go ahead and buy some.

Cheers

Don't take travellers cheques although you will be able to change them at banks. Take stirling but new unmaked notes as most places will not except marked note. You will get a good exchange rate if you just withdraw from a ATM. My bank (HSBC) only charged me £1.20 per withdraw. Used an ATM twice and got a better exchange rate than the local banks were offering.

The main reason you shouldn't take T/Chqs is that the commission to exchange them is about 10%. All tour operators recommend you take cahs and store in the safety deposit boxes.

We also used the cash poits - good rates and an element of security. Bars, restaurants etc only accept cash so you will not be able to use your credit cards etc.

Hope this helps

There is definitely one at the back of the Gondola Station and there is another one but I didn't use it - I sent hubby off looking for it!!
