Changing money in Borovets

Hi Everyone,

Four of us are heading out ot Borovets on 28th Jan from Bristol - We can't wait!!!!!

We're not sure about where to change our money, looking at some info on this board, some people advise changing it in the resort and others advise changing in the UK.

What is the general feeling?? should we change money in the uk or in the resort?

Is there there a cash machine in the resort?

What about travellers cheques?

You will get a better rate in resort. Take sterling notes in good condition, no rips and no writing on them.

don't bother with travellers cheques.. better taking stirling with you and there are 2 cash machines in the resort..

I agree with Jacko, been to Bulgaria 4 times now and always used the cashpoints. Decent rate, I think the limit is 400 leva per day.

Change in resort, hotels are good for this. If you can't change in your own hotel then try the Samokov - though be aware that they don't take plastic.

There's a cashpoint in and outside Hotel Rila, and another at the bottom of the Gondola (I think, I didn't use it this year). If the money runs out in any of the 'usual' machines, there's also a less commonly used cash point just up from the Gondola in the direction of Boni club and Flora apartments.

If you do want to take some Leva with you DON'T change it with the Post Office.My friend changed some yesterday and got a rate of 236Lev,I changed some in a travel agents and got 266 !! big difference.
