Check your Passports

Hello all

Never posted to a forum on the net before, let alone been ski-ing, but here goes!
I am due to fly to Borovets on Sat 24th (can't wait!) but I have spent all morning in Newport in sunny South Wales at the Passport office renewing my passport. I am due to fly to Borovets on Sat 24th (can't wait!) but I have spent all morning in Newport in sunny South Wales at the Passport office renewing my passport. I was completely unaware ( and from talking to work colleagues I am not alone) that your passport needs to be valid for 3 months after your return date. Fortunately, my Mum heard something on the radio and warned me otherwise I would not be flying out on Sat. If you have any queries, don't phone the Bulgarian Embassy or Balkan Holidays (they said that it was nonsense and that someone was pulling my leg!) phone the passport helpline number and they will tell you all you need to know. If you find yourself in the same situation as me, don't worry as you can pay £89 and have your passport application turned around in 4hrs if you are prepared to travel to one of the regional passport offices. Check your passport now, as I really felt for the people who turned up at the passport office today straight from various airports with their luggage in tow, I kid you not!

Regards
Neil

re: Check your Passports

We've just renewed ours and they do give you credit on your new passport for any remaining months you have unused on your old one, hence new passports are for 10 years 3 months. Just a little bit of info.

Ah yes I have a personal experiance of this one. The first holiday with the little lady we where of to Zante for a week. We got a mate to drive us to Gatwick at silly Oclock in the morning and eagerly presented our passports.Shock horror my girls was out of date! By 6 months(silly cow!) So no Zante that day. We then had to pay out again for another holiday Bugger! I still mention it occasionaly as you do. Smile

re: Check your Passports

I looked into thsi passport thing a while agao. From what I remember It does depened on the country your goign to but as a generat rule of thumb It is only 3 months in europe (with the barriers coming down) and 6 months for Canada and Amnerica. In America they do check and send you back again if its not vaild. Im not sure about Far East or Oz.

Also you need to take a passport for flying in the UK now (to prove who you are[photo ID]) and that is allowed to be upto 1 year out of date before ...

Hope this helps
