Hi all - I have just booked a bargain holiday for Xmas to Pamporovo - the reason it is so cheap is that we will be staying in the Rhodopi Home Hotel (new and looks good) which is in Chelapare (10 kms outside Pamps). Has anyone on this board stayed in Chelapare - I am wondering if the ski passes would also be valid to ski there as well. I will be going with my 15 year old daughter so we don't want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere. Had a great time in Borovets last Xmas.
You will need to purchase a separate lift pass for Chepelare.
Don't worry busses run regularly to Pamporovo or you could always get a Taxi.
We now always stay in Chepelare and have done so for the past 4 seasons.
Enjoy.
hiya, we bought two apartments over there. i have one and my dad has one. chepelare is a lovely village. your in for a treat! As sparky said, you will need a different lift pass for chepelare but it doesnt cost that much. Chepelare isnt that far from pamps, and is so handy to get to.
Thanks for the info about Chelapare - sounds like it's going to be good. I'm going to do mostly cross country skiing and would like to try snowshoeing - does anyone know anything about that? I've booked the cross country skiing pack. I'm sure snowshoe walking isn't hard but with no sense of direction I don't really want to put on the shoes and set off into the mountains on my own!

About Borovets for Xmas - good atmosphere. We stayed in a very small basic hotel(brezva) and they made a real effort for Xmas and did special dinner and so on. The bar was so laid back that people took off their shoes and put their feet up on the chairs. Xmas is quite low key over there and in fact they don't celebrate Xmas day until Jan 6. I'm sure you'll have a good time - all you need is snow.
