Wen and i went up to have a skid around with Dave Canski... were not expecting much as the new snow was not a deep as forecast, and if the queue for the lift passes was anything to go by, it was going to be a busy day...

As the gondola sped (must have put an extra Lev in the meter !) towards the top station we noted the snow, and it was looking quite good. The queue for the new 6 man chair was huge, and we thought... bugger ! but it really moved quick, and in less than 10 mins we were being whizzed up the mountain again. The snow is in great condition, soft on the sides, without a sign of a rock, the only reservation is the numbers on it. The runs open are red 7,8, blue 4 into 6, the complete nursury area, and the ski road (again, skiing really well)
It looks likely that Challin Valog will re-open after grooming, but thats likely to be it, unless we get an appreciable dump of snow, because runs on the rest of the mountain are showing very small depths...
All in all, a good day really...
A note to all who may be coming this season, Ulen now own Shilligarnika, so the opportunity for reasonable cheap food on the mountain has gone..... apart from the furthest left restaurant and takeaway You will notice `lucky bansko' signs pinned to the roof supports, a bit cheaper than the Ulen takeaways, and much better food..
We also dropped into the `cave bar' at the side of the ski road, lovely in the garden, they are going to do well this season
