Gaby mentioned lack of culverts earlier. What are culverts ?

They are little concrete underpasses under the slope that allows the thawing snow to run down the side of the mountain without disturbing the ski surface...our instructor said that the water had already washed away much of the landscaping they had done since last season to combat the problem, backers wouldn't pay for culverts so now the water will cause big channels in the slope and cause bottlenecks as people stop and struggle over them....ok?
