We are staying at the malina village, bed and breakfast, we want to enjoy ourselves, eat well but not go too crazy everynight, what would you expect to take with you spending money wise, all equipment hire and ski school and lift pass etc is taken care of already.

re: Currency

As a familly of four we did less than £400.
We spent about 20 Lev each at lunch, 20 Lev drinks with evening meal and 20 Levs a night in the bar. The rest we wasted!

You can draw up to 200Lev a day out of the ATM. The instructions are in English. There's one outside the Gondola. There's another one somewhere else, don't know where, might be inside one of the banks.

If you've got a Nationwide card account then that's the cheapest way to draw money out, but other banks cards are taken.

The Karaoki bar is a good place to go near the Rila hotel at the top of the resort, good atmosphere and opens well late.

If you are planning to visit any lap dancing bars, DO NOT GO TO INTRIGA playboy bar at the bottom of the resort, down the hill, past hotel Samokov. We went in, me and a mate and they tried to charge us extortionate amounts for drinks we never had, or even asked for. Bar manager would not let us out and it was getting a little serious for our liking. Luckily a group of lads came in from London, we went and sat with them, told them the score, they let us walk out with them, at that point, greasy big bulgarian geezer calls for backup and his mates turn up in a very old beat up red BMW, they pile out and try to take the money or stove my face in. In the end, we all legged it very fast and manage to get away. This place was very much in your face and they will rip you off, if you do not pay, they will try to take it by force if you are in a small group. Me and my mate were very lucky that a bunch of lads who were willing to help, did help us out.
