DUTY FREE...

you can not get tax free anything at sofia airport and bring back to uk... they will not let you... Simple...

Tax free allowence only apply when you are travelling from Non EU countries... Eg 200 Cigs etc etc

other wise the allowences are quite high ,,,, as long as you pay the tax/duty... and they are for personel use...

other countries i have visited in the EU at the airport allow you to make duty paid purchases...

Sofia airport did not......

Trust me I was there On Saturday

re: DUTY FREE...

Its was the same principle on the plane... You could not buy cigs... just discounted gifts etc.... duty/tax free in the EU as finished

re: DUTY FREE...

Cigarrettes are cheap in Bg anyway and now presumably you can bring back as many as you want. (for personal use only of course)

re: DUTY FREE...

As has already been mentioned on here before - Bulgaria is exempt from "normal" EU allowance regulations. HMRC website states that limit on tobacco products being brought back from the two new EU states is 200 Cigs!!!
Beware - looks like you may have anything in excess of 200 confiscated
