Day 3 report

Well - your fears were both founded and unfounded - it's been chucking it down all day long - on the bottom slopes it's been rain and up at the top of the mountain, big bits of snow - visibility down to about 25 meters - if that...

Still, had a fantastic day none the less. Took the 3 man chair to the top and skied half way down the green, took the 4 man chair up and skiied the whole way down that green. We stopped off half way for lunch and they were playing lots of old sixties hits in ...

Still, had a fantastic day none the less. Took the 3 man chair to the top and skied half way down the green, took the 4 man chair up and skiied the whole way down that green. We stopped off half way for lunch and they were playing lots of old sixties hits in the restaurant. You've never heard such a loud group as ours!!!!

There is loads of snow predicted for tomorrow and it's great as it snowed today, it made it easier for us beginners.

Food at the Perelik has been fine and hot. Breakfast there is eggs, sausages, cheese, bread, pastries, doughnuts and if you pop across to the bar, even a brandy for breakfast. Supper most nights there is a choice of two soups - one meaty and one vegetarian. Main course both nights so far has either been chicken, pork or a fried pepper. If you don't fancy any of that - they'll make you a fresh omelette and chips.

Ski buses haven't been a scrum - I get the 9.30am one from outside the Snezhanka, it's only a scrum if you get the bus from the Pamporovo hotel.

The ski depot is handing out carver skis to most people and today I saw another 20 pairs being delivered and waiting on the counter to be set up with bindings.

Yes, the boots are the old rear entry style, but they are slowly being replaced too.

Spent the best 30 lev of my holiday so far this evening on a full body massage. I've stopped aching in all those places I didn't know existed.

I'll report back tomorrow - tonight is the ski instructors show so that should be great fun, especially since our instructor is in it!!!

I'll keep you all updated - especially if I see Pete again. We are meant to write one of these reports with him dictating and me typing.

re: Day 3 report

I got the massage at the Perelik - down by the pool. I feel so much better now. I gave up skiing today at about 2.30pm and now the only bit of me that still aches is my right knee - but then that's always been dodgy.

Hi J

Glad things are going well, disapointed you didn't even get past midnight at the party though....

Rear entry boots would prob be a good thing for me, quite a high instep so the newer 4 buckle style can feel a bit tight, never had a prob with the rear entry ones though.

Tell Pete thanks for the text, he'll know what you mean.

re: Day 3 report

I really hope you get buckets of snow on your holiday. But Pamps is at a low altitude and prone to some rain on the lower slopes. It's the main reason I've always opted for Boro. I think it has a lower snow record but what snow it gets it keeps a bit longer.

re: Day 3 report

Hi Judith,
I was wondering how busy the masseur was, do you think it is worth booking in advance? And if so would you book me one for Tuesday next week for about 5pm?

If it rained on the lower slopes, how much snow is there left?

Ally
