Hi Bansko locals
A few weeks ago it was suggested Bansko would open today for some skiing. I take it that even with recent snow cannon action there was no opening ? Did not get a chance to check the webcams.

Though didn't got up as only just arrived back from UK early hrs of the morning. Waiting on reports of what it was like. It is only snow-cannon snow and only certain runs would have been open. If we get any news Steve C or I will post later.
Snow cannons are really designed to support the already fallen snow rather than create piestes. It will mean slopes being very narrow and fairly thinly spread snow, but certainly better than no snow at all.
The snow generated by the cannons can also be a little slower to ski on, I believe its to do with the way the snow forms in the machine making it a bit more (abrasive)!!.
But its sure better than no snow, in fact most of the snow I skied in Bansko for the first half of my holiday last Jan was cannon snow, they certainly managed to provide us with decent pistes with their use of the cannons.
