Hi guys,
I am off to pamps in a week and going to beginner school, It looks as though the weather is going to be very cold. Will i need to take a rucksack for the slopes to carry extra layers, gloves and water etc. If so can anyone reccomend the best type, preferably one that wont keep me attached to the ski lift
As a beginner, it's not advisable to wear a ruck sack for the reason you mentioned (on the lifts) and when your taking lessons you don't want somthing on you back that restricts movement.
Dress for the conditions on the day, wear too much rather than too little and if you need to shead a layer I'm sure the instructor will tell you a safe place to leave things.
If you do get a rucksack, make sure it has waist & chest straps. I normally have one for extra clothes, water, bit of nosh, camera ect but the majority of people don't bother so it's really down to personal preference. I've found once it's on I barely notice it's there.
Just to back up what Bom said, they are handy. I use a dakine helipro which is great but as a beginner, still not advisable unless you can stash it somewhere while you're taking lessons.
I took one of the first day last year and left it at the hotel after that,,,, its was in the way, and being a beginner last year it was a nightmare having to load the skis, poles and walk in those boots onto the ski lift, and that was without the bag...just wear loads of layers on the first day, you can always wear less the next.....
