Hi guys..
Have just spent the afternoon going up on the old chair to the lake above Dobriniste. I have spied what i would consider some reasonable runs, the guy i was with informed me that a day pass is only 15lv, anyone skied it ?? Would also be interested in comments on the town, it seems really nice, well covered with bars and restaurants with a good local feel. Would also be interested in comments on the town, it seems really nice, well covered with bars and restaurants with a good local feel. No real development though my friend says there is a rumour of an Austrian company buying the area with a view to update and expand. It is only 5mins on a very good road from Bansko. I cannot believe i have never been down there in the years i have been coming to Bansko but i definately will be this season. Maybe even before, looking for a little property or a bit of land. Anyway, any comments good or bad would be appreciated.......

According the period of developing the situation is this.
-Around 2 years planning and procedures and the same period for building it.
-Nearly half of the ski terrains will be on the municipality’s land the rest government one.
-Around 40 million euros will be needed for all this. ""
Mmmm, nice one Andie.
Did read it, official blurb, would be nice to get under the surface, also plans for new spa (many million euro) have been passed ???? Its funny but few seem to know locally what, when or if ever this is all going to happen. One wonders if this is all to drive real estate prices through the roof as in Bansko (2nd gondoler, airport, new runs etc). One wonders if this is all to drive real estate prices through the roof as in Bansko (2nd gondoler, airport, new runs etc). There is an air of speculative projection according to local agents from local land owners and property owners in that asking prices have become unrealistic already, and this without a single shovel in the ground. My interest is not in investment, i want a home in a nice town with reasonable facilities and communication with access to some decent skiing. It seems the market will go much the way of Bansko if it hasn`t already, it will be a shame if the town goes the same way. Time will tell.....
....so... does that mean the lift in Dobriniste is open in the summer? I've not been to bansko in height of summer etc yet but I (like millions of others) own a place there... I'cve doen a load of skiing and some trips in spring and autumn when it has been dead. need to be out there in the summer I guess... but what is actually open? Does Bansko Gondola open? Is this lift at Dobriniste or razlog open? Where does one find out the openiong times etc? Cheers
Gavin..
The lift in Dobriniste is definately open, a two stage two man chair rising to 2200m. It is quite elderly but seemingly well maintained because it is run by the municipality. The top station is at the side (almost) of a lake and it is possible to walk to Bansko (Shilligarnika) about 4km. The views are quite breathtaking (as is the walk), there is a small hut which will serve snacks and coffees. The cost one way is 5lv. The Gondolar in Bansko is not open but the mountain road is, you can taxi or drive or as in my case mountainbike (about 2hrs ooeer) up towards Banderista and on to the Viren hut. There is a restaurant part way which is a good dropping off point for walking or simply to stop and have a meal and a drink. The up and coming jazz festival is almost upon us, venues are already setting up stage areas in Bansko. It is not exclusively jazz, all aspects are catered for.

Have a look, the Royal Towers venue is going to be great, right by the pool, get your towel on a lounger early
