Double booked

To reiterate what Caryn and Pete have said. We had a double booking fiasco at the Hotel Pamporovo!! We were a party of seventeen, 7 twin rooms booked and 3 singles, but were given 4 twins and 3 triples, we had three single gents having to share, who hadn't met each other before and a Grandmother who had to share with an unrelated couple. Going for compensation! Propositioning pimps also in the Hotel! Not nice for families! Will not be returning to this Hotel again. Has anyone been to Kranska ...

re: Double booked

It doesnt just happen in Pamporovo either! There have been several incidents in Bansko also. About 4 weeks ago a Serbian family half way through their 2 week stay were told in no uncertain terms they had to vacate their room in the Hotel bansko to make room for the English visitors (Feb half term). When they refused (and rightly so) were threatened with the police. 6 hours later the police were duly called only to walk straight out again as the guests hadnt commited any crime! I will hasten ...

When they refused (and rightly so) were threatened with the police. 6 hours later the police were duly called only to walk straight out again as the guests hadnt commited any crime! I will hasten to add at this stage that the hotel staff were on the side of the Serbian guests, it was 'BALKAN HOLIDAYS ' who were pulling the strings and telling them to move out.( Am I right in thinking communism finished 15 years ago) Anyway, the guests stayed and went off skiing as usual the next day only to find when they got back that their room had been completely cleaned from top to bottom and their cases packed for them by the hotel staff !!!! What the guests didnt know though was that their cases after being packed by the hotel staff had actually been taken to another hotel only to have the receptionist refuse to accept them as she/ he didnt want the responsibility of handling goods without the owners permission. The bags were swiftly returned the original room in the Hotel bansko!

This is just 1 incident, but, believe me there has been several others like it!

Hi Barbs and Ray...
Went last year to Kranska Gora, very popular with Germans/Austrians as its so close to the border, fairly limited skiing (don`t know your level) with lift bottlenecks that annoy, stayed in a lovely hotel (five star ???) with the whole of the lower ground floor given over to a casino (people stayed down there all day and night)
The village quite picturesque but with little life, most entertainment limited to hotels
and one or two bars after midnight. Fairly cheap though ...

apart from gifts etc. Overall i would give it a miss, not condemning it because it might be right up your street but have you thought about Bansko, i was there in December and i am off again on the 19th, it has a lot of the charm of KG but with much better skiing/lifts/nightlife etc and it is cheaper...

Only my opinion, some rave of KG but i am not one of them...

re: Double booked

Hearing your comments about BALKEN HOLIDAYS does not surprise me at all
I have had serious concerns with them - do not touch with barge pole!!!!
