Eating Out In Pamporovo

Eating out in Pamporovo is a experience you just must not miss - even if you are on half board you need to try it at least once whilst you're in town. Service in Bulgaria is never quick. In fact in many cases it's downright slow but it gives you time to chat with friends about your day and enjoy a different pace of life.

Eating out in Pamporovo is a experience you just must not miss - even if you are on half board you need to try it at least once whilst you're in town. Service in Bulgaria is never quick. In fact in many cases it's downright slow but it gives you time to chat with friends about your day and enjoy a different pace of life.

Most restaurants serve up local dishes plus popular international cuisine, with the largest hub around the Hotel Murgavets area. The Italian Restaurant (Hotel Perelik) has a wonderful selection of pastas and pizzas. Live traditional music plays nightly at the roomy Mehana Bulgarian Village (adjacent to Hotel Murgavets) with a large range of local dishes and roaring log fire.

Near the bus station at the main junction, Baj Ilia is a locals' favourite with tasty cheap Bulgarian food; a few more small restaurants are clustered nearby. The huge Chevermeto specialises in the Rhodopi dish of Cheverme which is delicious barbecued lamb, and also has live traditional music. The British-style White Hart, opposite the Hotel Murgavets, has an all-day full English breakfast, plus burgers, steaks and pizzas and a large evening menu. A live band will entertain you every evening and they are really brilliant.

During the day I would certainly recommend trying Peters Bar at the mid station. Although small, the food and drinks there are fantastic and great value for money and Jenny will make sure you are well looked after. After skiing if you want a beer before heading back to your hotel, then try The White Dog situated at the entrance to Malina 2 or the Markony which is opposite. Both have roaring log fires and great atmosphere. Pete and his English wife Andrea will be your hosts in the White Dog and Laura in the Markony is an absolute babe!

There are many many more places that others will favour for many different reasons - but just make sure you have at least one special night out in Pamporovo. You'll love it!
