Wheras I do not know the actual rate for pound to euro, then because Bulgaria has lev, if you try to change money from pounds to euro the bank will transfer it into lev first, apparently this means that you pay higher fees (as you first pay to get pounds to lev and then lev to euro) I was adviced against doing it last time in Borovets and instead sorted it before we went. However if you do want some lev for food etc. then it's better to take pounds and change that there as you will only pay ...

in boro at the moment in the booths its 1.9 lev to 1 euro or 2.19 lev to the pound. no one will change your pounds to euros for anything like you can get in england as they see this as a double transaction and will charge you a buy and sell rate. steve.g
