Hello all,
I'm over to Borovets in a couple of week. I'm heading over with a gang of mates. But, we are finding it hard to get the Euro changes to the Lev. The banks don't want ot know. I heard a rumour that you that the Euro is excepted in Borovets? Any truth in this
Either way we'll be sure to have a mad one.
If you're over there from between the 21st & 28th Feb, i'll see you then. I'll be the drunken Irish man with a stupid grin on my face and hopefully no broken limbs.

you are better of taking sterling you can get a good exchange rate therei got 281 by the hotel ela last week

The Euro is by far the most popular foreign currency in Bulgaria. You will have no problems changing it. It is the common currency of 90% of the tourists visiting Bulgaria and will probably be the currency of Bulgaria from 2007. For tourists travelling from Ireland, it makes no sense at all, to change your Euro into a smaller currency like Sterling. Take your own currency with you and enjoy Bulgaria.re: Euro
Sorry jff the rate sounds good but, what you post is not correct, the Euro is the number one in Bulgaria, because the Lev is fixed at the Euro, before the Euro he was fixed at the german mark, so the official rate is 1€ is 1,95583 Lev. In Borovez it was between 1,94 and 1,95 in the Bank at the Hotel Ela, the Postbank.Sune

hiive just come back - the last couple of years we have always taken travellers cheques but the exchange rate for eur's or gbp is much better. You can't get lev's in this country so i would recommend you taking currency.
