FAO Fiona & also a bit of advice please!!

Me and my boyf went to Borovets for the first time last January. We had a fab time even tho it really only snowed on the last few days. We did manage to learn to ski (mostly on ice) every day. Only thing is, my fella and I felt a little held back by the the fact there were so many in our group - altho it was a laugh, much of the time was spent hanging around waiting for our turn. We have booked the intermediate ski package this time round but we were thinking of maybe just doing the ski ...

We have booked the intermediate ski package this time round but we were thinking of maybe just doing the ski school for a couple of days and then having a few hours of private lessons for a couple of days and then hopefully the last 2 days we will be good enough to go off on our own.

Has anyone else done anything similar to this? Do you think we will we be good enough to go off on our own after a bit of private tuition? Also, if we were to have a lesson at the top of the mountain, would the time we took to get there in lifts etc be taken from the time of the lesson (if this makes sense?!!)

I have seen from a few of your replies on here that you can arrange private tuition in Borovets. Can you give me any idea of prices? Where can we contact you in the resort? Do we need to pre book?

Thanks in advance....

Hi Funky Flaggie!!!,
As you said......group lessons are alot of fun and you also meet new friends. Private lessons are well worth considering as you can achieve alot in a short space of time. Your time with the instructor normally starts when your on the slopes learning, not on the gondola for example.
After some time with a private instructor, you really do need to get out there afterwards to practise what you have just been taught. There's alot to remember!!!.
I can send you some details ...

Hey Luce, only been to pamps but i found that from last year (we earned on ice too and had a large group) to this year was a big difference, This year there were only 6 of us in the group because they gave us a test on the first day and put us with people around the same standard. We learned tonnes in the week this time, confidently skiing reds. (We were going 5o be taken on a black but we bottled out!!! Me due to my boot pain and others down to the steepness, we were all happy plodding ...

Just to put my 2pence worth in,remember when in private lessons you ski further and faster,so work on your fitness before you go..

I had private lessons in january for 2 and half hours every morning by the afternoon i was ready for bed lol...

Mind we were burning the candle at both ends..
