No, I don't have a degree in it or anything like that. It is just something that I have picked up over the years as a result of my mountaineering activities. You can't just go up to a mountain and climb it, especially in winter conditions given the risk of avalanche etc. Hence, the knowledge.
I have, in all honesty, never been to Bansko when the snowpack is anything other than perfect and the off-piste conditions have been equally as perfect. Although, that ius mostly down to pure luck as I always beek my skiing holidays around July when I, nor any other weather reader, could possibly have a clue as to what the snow conditions are going to be like.
this will be the 2nd year in a row ive gone to Bansko on the 27th, last year was perfect, the year before we went a weeke arlier and it snowed the entire week, conditions were fantastic, loads of powder, lots of snow in the village, hoping the snow will be around the week of the 27th. although i cant read the charts, i do know it seems to be looking better, weather is on the turn, cooler weather, more clouds. France and Austria have had snow now, its only a matter of time now for Bulgaria, ...
