Bulgaria Ski discussion board

The major tour operators commence their first winter skiing flights to Bulgaria on 20th December .............. that's just 32 days time.

Hotels are reported to be almost full for the complete season and much is still being done to ensure the resorts are in top condition.

For those just joining the board for the season there are many changes to the Pamporovo resort, hopefully most for the good. The White Hart English Pub that was so popular has gone. It has been replaced with a new ski depot that will serve the resort but it is still unclear (or it is to me) exactly what this will entail.

The rank of shops that linked the Morgavets and Perilik have also gone. Again I'm sure new shops are planned but I am yet to find out where and when they will open.

The dreaded 'walkie bit' on the final blue decent to the Malina has also gone, and it will now be possible to ski the final run without have to huff and puff that 300yd stretch. They have also levelled the slope on the road by the Marcony so the entrance to the Malina Ski depot is much more easy to access.

A new sister hotel to the Perilik is under construction but this will not be completed for this season. The outdoor swimming pool (which was never used) has gone and has been replaced by a bus terminal.

Flyte Nightclub at the Rogen Hotel has had a facelift and will probably be a top nightsport for this year.

Apart from that nothing has changed

I have ordered snow for you all which will be delivered by 10th Dec without fail.

So just go there and do it to bits Be rude not to.

I first went to Pamporovo back in 1994 (before most of the world had the wheel) and I have to say that I shall mourn the loss of the White Hart Pub... although I was only wee, I remember it well (although not too well ) And as for the shops linking the Perlik and the Morgavets... that is where I bought my first pirate CD.. ahh the memories...

I will have a drink to those memories...

Having said that, they did make the place a bit of a hole, so its probably an improvement.- as for the walkie bit.... come on! Where's your sense of adventure? Trying to do cross country skiing in alpine gear never did anyone any harm!!

Sounds like Pamps has improved since '94, must go back some time... as for this year, it's off to Bansko to see if there is anything to rival the wall.
