Family Trip

Hey ski fans,
I have a question
How do you feel about bansko in terms of a family vacation.
Do you think my parents are gonna get bored, if they actually have never skied before?
Are there any other attractions and place to hang out besides skiing?
How do you think people in the mid of 50s getting with the skiing , is it difficult to learn?
Thank you

re: Family Trip

I don't think there is any problem with people - parents or not - learning to ski in their 50s.

If they are reasonably fit and healthy, and do a little bit of exercise to stretch those stiff knees and hip joints, it should be fine.

Skiing is so much fun, I didn't start till my mid 40s, and there were people in my group - just retired and in their 60s! They did just fine. If your parents want to learn to ski, then they will learn to ski - attitude is more important than age IMHO ...

Can't advise you anything about Bansko - I've only been to Borovets (twice) and Pamporovo (once).

And if your parents don't take to skiing, then there are day trips to places like the Rila Monastery with its wonderful frescoes, Sofia, etc. so I'm sure there will be enough going on to keep them amused.

re: Family Trip

Tell you what, try posting again with the word Bansko in the title - then for sure Steve C and NightMuffy will see and respond.

Also, you could post on the forum at www.skidvd.co.uk - there are several Bansko regulars there.

Good luck, you must love your parents, and no doubt they think the world of you as well. I hope my kids take me skiing in future years (though I'll be out of my 50s by then I expect!)
