Fantastic time in Pamporovo

Returned from a fantastic skiing week in Pamporovo on Sunday 6th.
More snow than we've ever seen. Lots and lots of powder at the beginning of the week and the slopes were pretty quiet until the Bulgarian public holiday started in thursday. It rained heavily in the village in saturday night but I think it was still snowing on the mountain.
Local road conditions are a tad shambolic (a strike by local council workmen we were told !) but it all adds to the laid-back way of things out ...

Excellent ski school instructors. Ivan you're a star! Roman, thanks for looking after Chris and your kind words. Maria, my girls Laura and Jennie had a fantastic time and have really improved. Jordan, thanks for getting Pamela started, her aching knees will never forget you!
Local prices are very very reasonable although you can pay 2.50 lev for a hot choc in one bar and 5 lev in the bar next door. Food was pretty good wherever we went but the hotel food was a bit repetitive.
A special mention to the Italian restaurant in the Perenik Hotel. All 6 of us ate and drank there for less than £40 .... outstanding!

Glad you had a great time - we've been back a month now and still think about it all the time. The kids are now competent skiers - and with three of them we were delighted with £2.25 for a round of 5 drinks in the hotel bar!We had great snow and great weather...not sure if going back could ever be as good. So may try Bansko next.
