Fantastic time......AGAIN !!!!

Once again Bulgaria has come up trumps.
We've had an absolutely fantastic time in the hotel Murgavets Pamporovo. We ski's every day except Thursday, which took off for a rest (we beat ourselves up a bit too much on Wednesday).

Something we must say DO NOT put any faith in the weather forecasts, there is less truth in them, than an election manifesto. About 5 inches of fresh powder fell on the Monday night, and flurries here and there through the week. I did once text Pamp Pete to ...

Something we must say DO NOT put any faith in the weather forecasts, there is less truth in them, than an election manifesto. About 5 inches of fresh powder fell on the Monday night, and flurries here and there through the week. I did once text Pamp Pete to gloat, and it promptly stopped, so I'll shut my mouth in future!. There are some icy patches, mostly on the green run from the top to mid station. These were being dealt with by the snow cannons while we were there.
As mentioned in a previous posting, our only negative, is the coach transfer to the ski area, and this is only because we have never had to do it before (always been to Borovets, where you can ski up to reception). Having said that, we did have a bloody good laugh with the rest of the cattle. One of the upshots of this, is as we came through Gatwick last night, we had to say goodbye to loads of people we'd met this way. The taxi was between 11-13 lev (depending how much the driver spins the wheels, and increases the mileage LOL), but normally you can haggle to 10, especially if there are lots of them. Frankly, we didn't bother, About £1 a head is not going to break the bank.
In our very humble opinion, the skiing is better in Pamps, over borovets. There is more to do for the beginner/intermediate. We didn't use anything like all the slopes, simply because I didn't want to lead Mrs Banknote down something that was too steep. We'll Pick Pete's brains when we get back on the 22nd about those.

All in all, an excellent week, made some friends, who i must make a quick mention of
Hi to Ted from the snowshack (sorry for starting the icicle thread buddy)
Mark (the only one in my village.....not what you think, you had to be there !)
Big thanks to Pete, and Andrea under the Markony, for all your help and advice.
Lubo in the markony (never let a glass run dry)
Vitto and Laura (he's an artist in BJ's,........no a proper one)
Dosho (barman in the Markony),

And everybody else we met who were enjoying there own holidays, too numerous to mention here.

Mustn't forget Pamp Pete either, for the phone calls/text messages, always funny, sometimes remembered from the murky depths of a dim and distant alcoholic evening.........There are a lot of people looking forward to seeing yourself, and Angie again. Very Happy

Banknote - you traitor you!!

Glad you had a great time. No excuses, if you're going back you can buy a bell then!!

Not sure I would want to be bothered with the transfers each morning especially with the kids. We did that when staying at the Yagoda Village which is why we staye in the Alpin last year.

Happy New Year to you, Lisa and Robyn

re: Fantastic time......AGAIN !!!!

Hi Banknote

We are going this Saturday, shall I save you the bother of buying a bell, we will buy one for you from Ludwig and leave it behind the bar for you at the Markony.

We always put our trust in Mr Adidas, very good friend, we purchased 3 or 4 bells at the beginning of the week, and he was always about ready to help us if we dropped something, even returning to the depot one day to fetch something we had forgotton.

Roll on Saturday.
