Had a great time skiing, despite the lack of snow towards the end of the week and the closure of the gondola due to high winds for 3 of the 6 days. Great people, great instructors, great beer, just a shame the conditions were not at their best.

Had a great time skiing, despite the lack of snow towards the end of the week and the closure of the gondola due to high winds for 3 of the 6 days. Great people, great instructors, great beer, just a shame the conditions were not at their best.
Sadly Balkan Holidays spoiled the beginning and the end of the holiday though. After booking flights with good timings, they were all changed a few weeks before the start of the holiday. We arrived at our hotel at 4am (better than some friends who arrived at 5) and were expected to attend the welcome meeting at 9 to get our skis and ski-school, then go out onto the slopes after just a couple of hours sleep. I think this is DANGEROUS.
The flight home was delayed for 3 hours and when I collected my cat at 11 last night, I was not prepared to drive for another 3 hours to get home. The original flight time was okay, but asking me to drive home at what my body thought was 1 in the morning, was again, DANGEROUS. Fortunately the Travel Inn at Gatwick was great value for £50 and we arrived safely home at lunch time today.
I am not alone in thinking that Balkan are operating a DANGEROUS policy this year with their flights. Because of our delay, anyone on the BGH flight to Sofia last night wil have arrived int he resort at around 7 or 8 this morning, and I bet the welcome meeting hasn;t been rescheduled even for them.
Anyone else feel strongly about this? Please get in touch as I will be writing a very strong letter to the company and would like to know how common this feeling is.
A real shame for Balkan as we have enjoyed two very good holidays in the last few years with them.

Sorry to hear about your delays. I think there is nothing worse. Especially on the way home, really you just want to wave a majic wand and appear in your lounge. But just think about your good holiday and forget about the bad bits. My husband and son are in Boro at the moment. They went with Inghams,no probs with their flight times and no delays. We were told to go with them as they were brill, so maybe if you dont get any joy from Balkan, it is time to change Company.

HiWe are travelling to Boravets via Balken (last year we used Crystal but they were fully booked in September of half term week 14/2!) So l booked with Balken. Like you l was upset when they changed the flight times a few weeks back. I rang to complain and was told l could change to another holiday but half term booked since September!!! every where else is full. l certainly won't be booking with them again but this year we have no choice having paid in full!!!!
