Finlandia Pamporovo Review

4 of us went at the very end of season last year - last week March 05. We had a great time - new skiers and though the snow conditions weren't the best we really had fun. There's a really great green/blue run down the whole mountain which takes about 25 minutes to do - so you can spend v little time on the lifts!

Finlandia is huge. Our rooms were enormous and very comfortable, with space to relax in the evenings. The lobby bar was great for a cheap beer, hot chocolate or cake and to flop on the leather sofas when you came off the slopes!

The only drawback was the food - still distinctly Soviet circa 1987. Breakfast was OK but we only had dinner twice. (We couldn't believe how bad it was so we went back to see if it was a one-off. It wasn't!) Food self-service, absolutely lukewarm and some was of pretty dubious quality. Nice pizzas in the hotel Murgavets though - and all food / drink out was very reasonable. The Finlandia a la carte restaurant was a bit better than the canteen. So, I'd say go but watch out for the hotel food in the evenings - get out and explore instead.

re: Finlandia Pamporovo Review

Glad you had a good time.
The thing people don't seem to get about most small hotels is that they have CANTEENS, NOT restaurants. That's why there is self-service, no waiter. And the food is canteen food, not restaurant one. Nothing Soviet about it, esp considering the fact BG was never a part of Soviet Union... Booze

Hi Lenny, I eat everyday in a student restaurant here at the university of Ghent so I'm very used to this kind of thing Razz
When Im tired of this food then I go to a small resto.
