Hello All,
Firstly, this forum is great! I'm from the states, and will be meeting my wife (who is going to gradual school in Europe) in Borovets Jan 29th.
I've read from some of you that renting equipment in Borovets can be 2 or 3 times more expensive? Our booking is through a Russian (where my wife studies) travel agent who claims not to be able to get any 'ski packages'. Is there an alternative to waiting until arrival to rent skis, lift passes, etc.?

Additionally, could any of you recommend a transfer provider? We will be staying in Sofia from the 26th until the 29th at the Sofia Princess.
Lastly, is it possible for us to hire an instructor that teaches both skiing and snowboarding (which my wife is keen to try)? I suppose that it would have to be a private lesson by definition?
Thanks in advance for any replies, and I look forward to meeting some of you in Borovets!
you can hire equipment and get lift passes through this site. I think you click on ski holiday bookings and send an email asking for the costings and they will email you back, dont know if any cheaper but give it a try.
you can get private tuition but weather thay can teach both skiing and boarding I dont know, usually different instructors for them both. private ski instruction is vey cheap in bulgeria as well in conparison to other resorts
again transferes can be booked on this ...

again transferes can be booked on this site I think we payed £100 return from sofia to bansko in a taxi last year.
hope you have a good journey over and dont get to much jet lag, are you traveling around anywhere else or just going to bulgeria?
Hi Americanski
check at the airport OK Taxi..According to the airportwebsite they are good(!)
I personally think that a hote/pensionl in Borovets (or Samokov) would be better if you want to ski for a few days..
Lets have your wife inform with the locals I'd say..or check the hotellist on this website (see left!)
greetings from Belgium
Tanjette, we are staying in Sofia from the 26th until the 29th for some sightseeing, thereafter we will be staying at the Samokov in Boro until Jan 5th.
Sam, as I read it, this website only does package rentals if you book your hotel through them. But I will check about transfers. Hopefully the three days of 'sightseeing' in Sofia will cure my jetlag before the skiing starts.
