First time in Bulgaria

Going to Bansko on 16th Feb, Some questions
1. What;s the best thing to do re currency - should i get Lev in the UK or are there ATM's in bansko?
2. Should we prepare for a long wait on the first sunday for ski's etc (and queues for the gondola)?
3. where are the best family oriented restaurants/cafe's in town and on the slopes.
4. Is the snow as good as it looks on the webcam (for those of you recently returned)
5. Will we enjoy it (Family booked into ski school for the week)?
Ta

re: First time in Bulgaria

Get maybe £20 english changed before you go, in case of any issue's on transfer, take sterling, good notes no writing etc, and change them over there, better rate.
There are ATM's in bansko yes.
Sunday morning could be a long one, depends how quick you can get fitted, the Gondola takes about 15mins to get you to the bottom of the mountain.
Snow across bulgaria seems good! should be plenty, went last year and wasn't a lot, but still good enough!!!!
You will have a great time in ski ...

You will have a great time in ski school. Sure the kids will, they'll make friends, as I am sure you will!!!
Have a good one... Very Happy

re: First time in Bulgaria

Hi Jim cannot really add much apart from eating out. All restuarants are family friendly in Bulgaria. You need to walk down into the old town and pick one of many. I found the quality of the food to be really good, just do not expect the same level of service that you might get in th UK and you will be fine.

Hi Jim. We went to Bansko last year during half term week and have some comments about Sunday. Travelled with Balkan Holidays who insisted on issuing lift passes, school & equipment vouchers on the Sunday morning. By the time we had queued for this then for equipment it was past 11am. When we then tried to get the children into ski school it became farcical - and not entirely down to the locals! We rejected the adult group they wanted to put the kids in, and we dismissed the other parents' idea of organising a private group. In the end we took our two off with us resolving to try again the next morning. This we did and within a few minutes we had them installed in a children only class where they had a great time and progressed very well.
Hope this helps. Have fun.
