Any advice on ski lessons, where to get lift passes, where to exchange money and most importantly restaruants and bars to check out would be greatly appreciated! Also anything esle you can think!

How are you coming to Bansko, have you booked a package with an operator, or are you staying in an apartment ?
There are a number of options for instruction dependent whether you want group lessons, one to one etc, and hire is the same. Ski passes can be bought at the gondola, or may if you have booked with an operator be pre-bookable. Exchanging money (sterling) is best done in one of the many banks we have here..and bars/restaurants ?? there are hundreds in Bansko, but possibly the more ...

Exchanging money (sterling) is best done in one of the many banks we have here..and bars/restaurants ?? there are hundreds in Bansko, but possibly the more touristy would suit, so start with the `Friendly Bar' under the Fortuna apartment block, or possibly the `Queens' or `Euphoria'...
E-mail us off my name and we could discuss arranging everything for you...

Hi Steve

Thanks for your repy!

We've booked independently staying at the St George hotel and Spa just on a Bed and Breakfast basis so will be going to restaurants every night. Read some very mixed reviews on the St George but if I'm honest did on most hotels in Bansko!

Do you have to book ski lessons in advance? One of our group will definitely need them!

re: First time to Bansko!

Hi
As a previous regular to Bansko, if you go to the gondola first thing you will see the ski school , they all wear blue and yellow, can't miss them, ask for Janko tell him Terry sent you from Thomson, he should give you discount for cash£s, nudge nudge wink wink, he is the boss of the ski school, I'll be there my self about 9ish, in case you don't know it's the Woman's ski championships so it will be very busy.
Hope this helps

re: First time to Bansko!

I can only speak from my experiences in Bansko when I went there in 2006, if you can, book a pass and lessons before you go, I think it would be best. The first morning of a new ski week is total chaos at the Gondola, if you haven't already got them I suggest, at the very least, buying your own ski boots as you can then be fast tracked in the ski hire place to get your skiies, boot fitting takes ages, plus your own boots will be so much more comfortable than hired ones. I snowboard and have my own equipment but when I went to Bansko I was with a group of skiers, they went to the Gondola station on the first morning at 8:30 am to get kitted out but didn't get on the mountain until gone 1pm and they missed their first days lesson. From what I've heard it hasn't got any better, every resort has 'first day chaos' but Bansko is definately the worst place they've been for that so far. But don't let that put you off, it hasn't me as I've book to go there again this year, flying out on the 28th of Jan. It is a good resort with great skiing and brilliant value for money. re: First time to Bansko!

The championship is on for that weekend only, the final is on the Sunday, yeh it will be busy, so the earlier the better, when you get your equipment go in side the Gondola station ans ask for Maria she will sort equipment and I think she can sort the lift pass, I normally get a package deal before I go, your more than welcome to email me.
