First time to Bansko

Hi Guys,

This is our first time to Bulgaria/Bansko and little advice would be greatly appreicated. Are ski passes cheaper online or is there little or no diffrence in price buying locally? Also any recommendations on ski hire near to Hotel Tanne? Is early March usually ok for snow? We are three couples in our early thirties, any restaurant/bar recommendations would be helpfull (or places to avoid).
Many thanks.

Are you diy or package? If package then travel agent is much cheaper
Hope this helps

re: First time to Bansko

If you are not buying a package from an operator then there are no real money savings to be had booking passes in advance unless from ULEN with lessons - but TBH I would rather give business to one of the independants. You can still book passes in advance but the only benefit is that it will be waiting for you rather than you have to queue up for it... Price will be largely the same.

I've used Ski Mania (through Bansko BLog) for hire and lessons and have been very very happy. Heard good ...

re: First time to Bansko

PS: Queens Pub; Victoria restaurant; Euphoria - all good for food and drink last year.

Lion Pub is lively and always fun.

Happy end is more expensive, but good atmosphere.

Amigos - good for sport

Friendly Bar (now Penguins I think) - revamped this year but has always been good for food and drink.

re: First time to Bansko

We have always bought Ski Pass from the log cabins not Ulen.

I think its called Inter - Ski (George is the owner), we cannot rate them highly enough the staff are so helpful friendly etc and as others have said the price is pretty much the same everywhere.

One of the best things we found in Bansko was that we could have private lessons 4 hours a day for 6 days for a fraction of the cost in other resorts. The benefit of private 121 lessons cannot be under stated vs group lessons ...

re: First time to Bansko

Irish harp do a free shuttle bus and will pick you up from your apartment or anywhere you are they will also drop you back to where you want after your evening.

Tel number once in resort is 00359899956667.

Penguins, euphoria, amigos, harrys, all nice. theres a new restaurant just up from you called Chateaux Antique well worth a visit.

Irish harp show all sky sports and have a great atmosphere when the footy is on.
