First time visit to pamps!

Hi

I am skiing for the first time this christmas! We are staying at the Hotel Murgavets. I would appreciate any info on the hotel, things to do apres ski, and lastly what catering is like for vegetarians?

Thanks in advance!

re: First time visit to pamps!

Murgavets is a good hotel right in resort centre. It is linked by a walkway to the Perelik. Try Bjs bar here and the apres ski bar. Also the white hart opposite is good. Food wise in the hotel is ok not great but ok!! Plenty of salads and rice and chips so you want starve. Try and eat out as the food tends to be much better.

There is a nice cafe at the top of the hotel, there is a decent size swimming pool, gym and sauna. In the basement i think there is a nightclub. Food i restaurant is typical of hotels in BG but i found it ok as i can eat anything. I would stay at that hotel again if i went back to Pamporovo.

re: First time visit to pamps!

Me and the wife went to the Bulgarian folk night where they cook full lambs over an open fire, and the wife had a fantastic BBQ vegetarian keebab, so think they can accomodate veggies most places. Looks tasty in this picture

They do lots of salads and roasted vegetables in BG. I don't think you'll have a problem.

HI
Myself and my wife are going to Pamporovo on the 18th of feb 2010 and staying in the Monastry 3 apartments.
Flying from Manchester to Sofia. Any ideas on the best way to get from Sofia to Pamporovo? Ive been told that a taxi would cost £100 each way (which is abit much) and a bus is around £12 each way and around 3 hours to get there.
Also its our first time skiing and was wondering if you had any tips or recomendations ie bars, restaurants, ski packages or anything in general.

re: First time visit to pamps!

You can hire a VW Lupo for 7 days from Sofia airport for £104 with economy car rentals.
We did our ski lessons at xscape and were glad we got the basics before we went to Pamps as some of the beginner classes were quite large 15-20 per class.
