Have never been skiing in Bulgaria before and need some advice. A group of 4of us were hoping to go at the end of March 2017...what is the snow like generally that time of hear?
Which is a good resort for beginners?
Thank you
Borovets is great for beginners....it is where I learnt to Ski and also my son. The snow in resort can be a bit hit and miss year on year but generally, I believe, the later you leave it the better chance of snow....I would say the 2nd 3rd week of March should have a good chance of good snow cover. A few regulars will add to these comments to give you a better picture.
Thank you very much for your reply! We mainly learnt to ski in France but still very new to it and need confidence boosting with some beginner slopes. Will have a look at Borovets area see what deals are around
Good evening,
You will find Bulgaria vastly different to France, but in a good way .
Chilled out , nice long flowing blue runs , and great places to eat at night .
Personally I find Bansko better as a resort overall , but each to his/ her own .
If you book Borovets, you must get in contact with Bobby and Kas , who have invaluable knowledge of all things Borovets .
If you choose Bansko , feel free to get in contact with ourselves as we can sort all your needs except flights.

OK, so given Bansko and Borovets have had their supporters, I will put in a case for Pamporovo.
We also had done only limited skiing when much younger, and our kids wanted to learn to snowboard. We did a lot of research looking at the various options and went for Pamps, and have not looked back, returning again this year.
The runs are tree lined and fantastic, and there is still much to challenge us. The instructors we have had have all been great.

The resort is not pretty in the way an alpine one is, but there are other traditional villages you can easily get to by taxi.
I would say the only drawback to Pamps is the transfer time from Sofia - but if you can get a flight into Plovdiv (another fascinating city, by the way) then you are laughing,
We all learnt to ski in Pamporovo but went to Borovets this year, end of Feb beginning of March and there wasn't a great deal of snow then :-(. Quite a few runs were closed and because it was warm, the snow cannons don't come on. Some places we had to ski across a road very carefully.
We're looking to go end of January 2017 so hope there is more snow about then. I think it's a bit hit and miss, it varies. I'm leaving my booking until as late as possible, watching the snow forecasts and ...
