First timefamily

we are family of four coming out to Boro on 4th Feb for our first ski holiday stopping at the Rila and flying out of Manc. Been to Snowdome today for a couple of lessons to get us started. Any good tips for us or anything we should bring. Two boys age 10 and 7 (both speed kings at Snowdome) really looking forward to it. Mum's a steady eddy and dad a bit slower but quick when it comes to heading for the bar!

Take some good grippy boots so you can stop as your heading to the bar. I was told to take sunglasses or goggles and suncream, as snow blindness and sunburn are two of the most common complaints. ENJOY Booze Booze

Cheers. We've all got some good boots and googles and I'll remember to pack my Oakley's. Never thought about sun cream but we'll put some in now.

I don't know what it's medical name is, but on my first time skiing my boots were really uncomfortable and I was advised to buy this foam stuff from the medical centre which in France cost me a fortune. It is quite dense and comes in a long strip you cut to fit. I've been told Boots do it. It was absolutely brilliant for easing where the boots had been pressing on my shin bone.
I still use it now even though I have my own boots, and occasionally the kids have used it when their hire ...

I still use it now even though I have my own boots, and occasionally the kids have used it when their hire boots haven't fitted that well. It has a slightly sticky surface so it doesn't move around. If I can find out the proper name I will let you know.
You'll have a ball. My boys are the same age as yours and put me to shame on the slopes. We don't do summer holidays anymore as we are all totally hooked on skiing.
Have fun!!!

re: First timefamily

Sounds like a good idea. I would really appreciate it if you could remember the name as the shins and calfs have been the problem at the sessions we have had at snowdome.

What about helmets ? Should the kids wear helmets?

Glad I won't be the only steddy eddy in Borovets that week.

I'll be the 'portly' ginger chap held together with neoprene.

Nowt wrong with steady eddy and although I am still going hard on the new year diet (not sure if the bottle of Chablis currently on my right is included in Weight Watchers or not) but I can also empathise with portly. What hotel are you going to be at and habe you been to Boro before?

re: First timefamily

The kids should definately wear helmets - I beleive it's actually law in Europe. Wherever we have been before we have hired them free as part of the package and never had any trouble get hold of them. But posts later on on the board are suggesting they might not be available in resort. We are going next week, so I'll be looking in to it more this week
