Flights to Sofia

Has anyone encountered this problem.

A flight to Sofia on 31st March from Gatwick is 3,500Euros, a flight from Heathrow is 363Euros, with a change over in Germany, and an 8 hour wait for a connecting flight to Sofia.

There has to be an easier and cheaper way of doing this!

Have already checked availability and cost for the rest of the holiday - i.e. hotel, full ski package for 7 nights is 400Euros.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Lin, I suspect the flights on 3st March are a bit pricey because it's right in the middle of Easter hols. I'm not sure about 3500eur though. I would think that the Heathrow flight you are looking at is with Lufthansa and I did that very trip in Feb. I think that if you look on the Lufthansa website you can narrow the wait at Munich down a few hours or look to change at Frankfurt. We I did the Munich trip my transfer was 50 mins and less than 2 hours on the return flight at Frankfurt.

Ryanair from Stansted to Plovdiv £226
BA from Heathrow to Sofia £309
Easyjet from Gatwick to Sofia £368

All non stop. Just checked on skyscanner.net

I was quoted this price by Bulgariaski.com, and you are correct in that it is Easter, might see if I can contact Lufthansa and see what else there is connection wise.
