So much quieter than usual years outside of ski season.What has the summer trade been like so far?
Weather wise it seems notably cooler and more poor weather than recent years - possible reason for lower tourist numbers?
Also evidently zero improvements to the ski infrastructure for the 2014/15 season.

It has been very wet here, if all of this weather had arrived last winter we would have been buried meters deep in snow, but as everybody knows it didn't.
On the plus side the work is going on with the new snow cannons in Borovets.
We had the World Junior Orienteering Championship here last week, it was genuinely a world event with competitors from all over the world. It seems to be a sport that needs a similar fitness to cross country skiing or biathlon with the Scandinavian countries ...

The weather for the competition was a bit mixed but not too bad, speaking with the competitors they said the races were very challenging.
An interesting point was that they all enjoyed it and were surprised at how nice it is here in Bulgaria. It seems that to most people Bulgaria still remains an unknown country. Nice in one way, very peaceful, but a missed opportunity for summer tourism in the mountains.

The UK has been in a heatwave from probably May 2014 and its set to continue deep into Aug 14.It sounds like nothing at all has happened in Bankso - zero investment this summer (nor last summer), seems odd especially given the FIA in Feb 2015.

Looks like the question I was about to ask has been answered on another thread. Looks like my plans for another day out in Bansko Gerry will come to nothing if a lot of it is closed during half term? Have you had the walkers out this year? Hope you are both keeping well?Mark

We would normally be out in Bansko for 2 weeks in Aug (usually this coming Sat 16 days of relaxation) - however a new baby due any day means this year is off.The weather seems to be looking very nice for the next few weeks in Bansko - really picking up notably from what I've seen online as pretty poor/average conditions.
However were thinking skiing in early March - we will have a 3 year old who last time loved a sled in the snow (at a mere 1 years of age
).
