From Bansko

At last I can report from Bansko. Could not find Internet there, and I seem too late now, several people have reported on this week.
Nevermind, I will not mention hotels, ski-runs, lifts, food, etc, as I am biassed, (as my name reveals). I just want to talk about the weather. Thursday and Friday we had the Perfect Day (I know these are two days, but you can have more than one Perfect Day TM). In fact they had a whole week, but I was not there.

Thursday and Friday we had the Perfect Day (I know these are two days, but you can have more than one Perfect Day TM). In fact they had a whole week, but I was not there.
The sky was dark blue, with the sun blinding you. The snow was making that strange squeeking noise under your skis, which only happens when the temperature drops to below -10 and the snow is not too hard. Although it stopped snowing a week earlier, the slopes were still perfect, no stones, no ice, just do what you like with your skis. Yes, I did feel that I did not deserve all this and should go back to work.
And today the clouds gathered again and the temperature went up. It was still nice, but the magic had gone.
Now I will wait for the next Perfect Day. May be next year, or sometime in the next 20 years?

re: From Bansko

You missed all the perfect days!!!! Where were you??? I didn't see one cloud for the whole week I was there. Though the temperature was a little painful. Some days started at -20 on the nursery slopes (I'm a novice).... You definately needed goggles this week - if only to keep that part of your face warm!

Yes, Dizzy, I missed a few days, I came only on Thursday. Long story. I am sure you had a whole Perfect Week, if there is such a thing.

Dobervecher!

My only problem was the ice - especially on the Bansko Road. For a novice it was pretty challenging but our instructor 'Majo' was really good and helped us relax into it. Surprised

I'm back in the UK now with dull days, rain and a 14 hour journey... yuck! I wanna be back in Bancko.

re: From Bansko

yearly days for you. The ice is difficult when it is on the Tomba run, not on the Bansko Road. Sounds like you will need a couple of more lessons in Bansko before you can really enjoy it. Have great fun in the future.
As for the weather in the UK, I was told that the rain was really tremendous. Sounds like they were having "The perfect rain". I am going back tomorrow, hope it gets a bit more bearable.

Yes. Was a virgin this time.... definately coming back next year though!

Brill! But just found out I have a small fracture to my tibia (shin bone) caused by the ski boots on my first day. They were too tight. Sad

Even more upsetting, I spoke to my boss and I'm not even getting any time off work!!! Just increased paperwork!!!! NOT FAIR!!! Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation

Have a safe journey back.
