Me and my bad boys r flying out to borovets on the 19th feb and we wer just wondering what all the talk is about gangters in the resort. Is there a real threat to people staying in this area.reply if you know about the situation at the moment?

Is there a real threat??? Are you insane? Do you think you are going to Iraq? If you have that kind of attitude why bother going? Do you really think that the resorts are over run by gangsters and they are looking to harm tourists? There may well be a few shady charachters lurking in the background if you go looking for them then you might just might bump into them. If you were a gangster would you bite the hand that feeds you?

Daniel calm down a bit old boy!!! and don't be so patronising !.( You often appear to answer things in quite a mature manner ,but on this occassion you have let yourself down.)
For any newcommer to Bulgaria who has been reading this site of late it must be a bit worrying .

Yes and if they have been reading this site they would have also read that it was an isolated inccident. I am sorry if I was patronising but these constant idiotic questions on gangsters are very annoying. If there was a real problem do you all not think that the tour ops would be letting people travel?re: Gangsters
Of course there are gangsters. They have probably put most of the money into hotels, lifts etc. Yes, you can see them if you know what to look for. They usually drive the latest brands of Mercedes and BMW (black), if not, they are not serious gangsters. Are they dangerous? Certainly not for tourist. In fact I like staying in a hotel run by gangsters, because I know that nothing can happen to me, i.e. all the petty criminals who might want to steal my money, will keep away. Not that I like ...

Now, if you are a gnagster yourself, then you should worry a lot, as you might be killed by another gangster. That is why they carry guns. If you are a tourist, however, you are probably safer next to them.
