Last March I skied for the first time in Boro after going on a guarenteed to ski course at my local UK ski slope. The biggest problem i had was not my skiing but my fitness particularly knee and thigh pain (agony). Am going out to Boro again next March. Can anyone recommend some excercises that might help me next year.
my partner told me two exercises that i should be doing, when i went last year for the first time. i must have been the most unfit person on the slopes... i only did them for a week so prob didnt get much out of it. the first one was leaning up with my back against a wall and sliding down to a position of sitting on a chair. this killed me... i had to sit like that for as long as i could. the other one was standing on a step facing up the stairs, with just the tips of my toes on the actual ...

I then had to push up onto my toes and back down. i managed to do about ten or twenty of these. ouch.... good luck!!
I take it that was your ex husband putting you into the Guantomino bay stress position, To get you fit, was he laughing while he watched or did he just go down the pub. any exercise will do, walking briskly, light jogging , hill climbing, anything more than you do now is good especially in the leg area. skibunny
Dont forget that your aches and pains could also be made worse by problems of posture and alignment. e.g. poor posture can force your thigh muscles to be working harder when just aligning yourself better will allow your skeletal frame to take more of your weight. Dont think that improved fitness will be the complete answer, keep a good eye on technique as well
I had the same probem with fitness now at the gym on the cross trainer what hell but my gym ball at home sems to be the most effective doing squats with it up against the wall best £10 i paid
