Getting it right

Come on all you experienced people out there. This is not only our first time to Bulgaria but also our first ever ski holiday. Are we making a mistake by taking the 'cheap' route.
Heard both good and bad reports about the Borevets region - we're staying in the samakov from Feb 12.
Where are the best places to eat, drink, and meet people, etc???
How many Lev should we take or are we better changing money over there..

re: Getting it right

Me & my hubby and 2 kids did exactly the same 3 years ago and had a great time. We didn't want to pay a fortune because we didn't know whether we would like it or not. We stayed at the Samakov, ski school was great, we were all skiing by the end of the week even me who is totally accident prone and not very sporty.

We are going back to the Samakov on 29th and taking 6 more first timers to Bulgaria.

re: Getting it right

the samakov is a good hotel , take good walking boots it can be more dangerous walking around borovets than skiing , most of the ski instructors are very good at the samakov , only change a little money in the hotel when you arive , you will get a much better rate at 1 of the banks .while i was there this week the post bank had the best rate .try the white magic for a meal , christo who runs it is very friendly and try the black tiger opposite the rila hotel for a drink , alex who runs it ...

re: Getting it right

Guess its gone up since last time we were there we spent £400 between me Sharon and the 2 kids and we ate everynight except the first two nights. Not that much drinking going on cause we were with the kids - that'll change this time though!
