We might bump into you on the slopes (literally) only our 2nd time ski-ing and still a bit green. Do you reckon there will still be plenty of snow for soft landings.

not sure about the snow lol, first time weve been so were not really experts.
are you doing ski school?
the youngest is doing the learn to ski package while the rest of us are going intermediate, although personally i would prefer to just go out there and ski freely, i dont like the idea of being constrained under the teacher. but at least we are all intermediates so we will ski at a decent level.
Not been to Bansko myself, but have recently got back from a Balkan Holidays ski package with a mate and we thought they were great. The flight is run by their own charter co. usually BH Air. The aircraft we flew on from Gatwick was pretty basic, but comfy enough. No mod cons such as Video screens tho so you might want make sure that he kids have plenty to keep them entertained. You may have more up to date aircraft tho. Some people berate Balkan Hols, but I have travelled with ...
Hi Tom,
Not been to Bansko myself, but have recently got back from a Balkan Holidays ski package with a mate and we thought they were great. The flight is run by their own charter co. usually BH Air. The aircraft we flew on from Gatwick was pretty basic, but comfy enough. No mod cons such as Video screens tho so you might want make sure that he kids have plenty to keep them entertained. You may have more up to date aircraft tho. Some people berate Balkan Hols, but I have travelled with First Choice and JMC in the past and thought they were pants! Balkan are also the cheapest - Thomson and Inghams all charge a lot more for the same hotels and ski packs. There's no difference in what you actually get, except a free glass of wine with your meal with Thomson
Snow and skiing were fantastic in Pamorovo where we were but the weather may have changed a bit since. But the ski schools in all the Bulgarian resorts are, from what I hear, 1st class and I was certainly impressed with mine, so much so we are planning a return trip to Pamps next year.
I can't comment on Bansko except an ex- work colleague that I bumped into on the return flight, who is a regular skier, really, really loved it - all the new lifts work well and the runs are gr8.
I left Bansko on 19th March and there was still loads of snow. Every piste had great coverage (the piste markers were only just visible over the top of the snow), and the sun was shining every day. As usual for this time of year, runs were a little icy first thing, and a little slushy after lunch. When I left, it was still possible to ski the run back to the bottom of the gondola.

Bansko itself is a great town, with a lot of friendly people living there. At the moment it is a bit of a building site, but that doesn't affect the character of the place. There are loads of mehanas (bar/restaurants) to try, and almost all are excellent value. If you have a sweet tooth, there is a guy in Pirin street who sells freshly cooked chocolate and banana pancakes for 3lv each.
I'll mail you a few photos showing the snow conditions.
