Gondala - what is it?

being a first-timer, Ive never experianced the way skiing works (prob like lots of otheres on this site)
basically, why is there a long queue in the morning for the gondala? If this like the main lift that takes you to all the runs. Therefore, once you get to the bottom, do you have to start queing up again or is the gondala at the V bottom and you only ski about 2/3rds down and get a small lift back to the top
I know it may sound a silly Q, but bit concerned that I will have to queue for ...

cheers

jon the gondola takes you up to the top of the mountain with the option of getting of halfway, once at the top of the mountain there are all types of runs to try, you dont need to rush back down. it takes approx half hour to reach the top of the gondola station.

re: Gondala - what is it?

The mornings are always the longest queues but the craics great while you're waiting and it goes quickly - truly it does. After lunch can be a little bit que-ey but as you say don't ski all the way down everytime and you can catch other lifts up.

Have fun.

The Gondala is the main ski lift which takes you to the top of the highest ski run. Its a cable cart, like the one in James Bond where 'Jaws' bites the cable ha. Razz Razz

The are many ski runs so you can please yourself. Most of these have chair lifts which you just sit on, and they take you to different points.

To be honest I went to Boro last year for the first time and didn't really experience the long queue's probably since I didnt rise til 11, after a late night on the piss Booze Booze ...

To be honest I went to Boro last year for the first time and didn't really experience the long queue's probably since I didnt rise til 11, after a late night on the piss Booze Booze. Its really only the serious earlier risers who queue.

Being your first time there anyway most people spend there first few days on the lower slopes with the chair lifts. There are some wicked scary slopes there so dont be alarmed. (I can only speak regarading Boro).

My advice would be, if you are an early riser, hit those for an hour or two then late mornin take youself up in the Gonala and spend a few hours up there. Why spend your time queueing. it doesnt make sence to me!!!

Or just hit the town every night
